Rules for attending Catnip events

The cornerstones of Catnip must always be discussed and agreed upon by all before engaging in any kind of play. 

Please memorise them and take time to consider their meaning and purpose before attending any catnip event.

EXPECTATIONS

What does everyone want to happen during play

EG: kissing, oral, impact

BOUNDARIES

What must not happen during play

EG: No kissing, don’t touch my feet! or avoid using gendered words

SAFE WORD

A signal to indicate play must stop immediately

EG: a traffic light system, a memorable word or a hand signal if someone is unable to speak

Expect safeguard monitors to ask you about these at any time.

This may seem obvious, but Catnip is a space for people of all body types, race, ages over 21, abilities, sexual or gender identities.

Racism, Ageism, Ablism, discrimination or prejudice of any kind will not be tolerated

Never assume someones gender identity or sexuality, never presume someones pronouns, always ask! 

its not just ok but expected.

If in doubt use they/them/theirs.

Do not be offended if someone asks for your pronouns.

Never fetishise anyone based upon their physical attributes or identity

Please treat our venues with the upmost respect

Use the bins provided, leave bathrooms/kitchens as you found them, clean up after yourself and use equipment in the way it is intended.

Report spillages or breakages immediately.

Please treat our staff, performers, artists, speakers and educators with respect. Bring cash for tips.

if a workshop or performance is happening please do not interrupt or speak during the performance. Raise your hand to ask questions etc

Safeguards are there for everyones safety, including you! if they ask you to do something or to stop something, or if they interrupt your scene for a safety check. take it with grace and dignity. their word is final.

Alcohol consumption, poppers etc are allowed depending on venue.

We do not allow illegal substances.

If you over do it, your ability to give or understand consent may be jeopardised.

For everyones safety, if your ability to give and receive consent is noticeably inhibited we may refuse entry to the venue, we may ask you to step away from the party for a rest and provide water until you are ready to rejoin. Or if you are too far gone we may ask you to leave.

Solo play at Catnip is only allowed if part of a wider scene. For example if someone likes to be watched and has asked you to.

This is super important

If you intend on engaging in solo play you must have been invited to do so. Both you AND your scene partners MUST inform a safeguard before play begins, you must also focus ONLY on the scene you are part of and not interrupt or get in the way of other people playing.

Failure to inform us ahead of this kind of play may result in you being ejected from the venue and banned from future Catnip events.

We expect all guests to practice safe sex and to clean up after themselves.

Each event or venue may allow or not allow certain types of messy play. 

Some events will hold themed workshops. 

This will always be made clear in event specific literature.

At all Catnip events, guests are expected to use condoms on toys and themselves, to use gloves or dental dams where appropriate and to clean equipment before and after use.

Do not use equipment you do not understand without first requesting a demonstration.

We do not allow the fetishisation of anyone due to their physical attributes.

We also do not allow the kind of play that can be triggering. As such the following types of play are NOT allowed under any circumstance at Catnip.

• Any kind of play that references traumatic historic events.
• Military or Cop fetish
• Play that involves cultural appropriation

Catnip is a Queer Kink Event

No effort no entry.

Anyone attending is expected to be both dressed appropriately and understands the space they are entering. 

Being vetted and purchasing a ticket does NOT guarantee entry and we reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone if they do not pass the vibe check or dress code on the door.

Some events will be optionally themed, but at all Catnip play events we expect to see leather, Rubber, lingerie, latex, fishnets, harnesses and general fetish wear.

We do not allow military, cop or cultural appropriation in outfits.

Regular street wear is not acceptable.

If you are unsure your planned outfit fits the brief, message us or post in the event group chat ahead of the event.

BE CAREFUL

Always navigate the play space carefully, do not encroach on the space of people playing, be aware of your surroundings. A whip to the eye is no joke.

NO CRUISING

If we see you going from person to person trying to get laid you will be asked to leave

DO NOT INTERRUPT A SCENE EVER

The only people who should interrupt a scene are the safeguards or photographer.

Breaking this rule may result in a ban.

DO NOT ASK TO JOIN A SCENE EVER

If someone tells you about the scene they are planning do not ask if its ok to join, wait to be invited. You may not realise it but people can feel social pressure and say yes before they've considered it or fear hurting your feelings to their own detriment.

We provide a whatsapp GC link with every ticket.

This is for introductions , socialising and planing.

What happens in the GC STAYS in the GC.

Nudes, fit checks, flirting etc is all allowed but never expected.

Media should be posted as view once for personal safety but this is a personal choice and not enforced.

Do not post media of anyone who does not give permission. If you are found to do this you will be removed and banned form events.

The same rules for events apply to the GC

Do not antagonise anyone in the GC. If someone upsets you, take time to respond calmly or reach out to admin.

We have Safeguard monitors on hand at all our events as well as the organisers and hosts who are all there to ensure everyone has a fun and safe time.

We take every precaution to minimise risk and harm, however we cannot see everything and we rely on attendees being able to self regulate and report incidents.

If someone violates your consent, breaks a rule or does anything to make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe please TELL US

We will always take victims seriously and deal with the situation calmly, sensitively and quickly.
